New Businesses Expand Tax Base |

Several new retail outlets will soon be opening in Wylie due, in part, to the efforts of the Wylie Economic Development Corporation. Sam Satterwhite, Wylie EDC's director recently gave an update to the Wylie Chamber of Commerce on the City's work to expand Wylie's tax base and provide new and exicting retail, entertainment and employment options for citizens of Wylie.

The new Small Business Center, funded by the Wylie Econmic Development Corporation, is now open and available to the general public. Located in the Rita and Truett Smith Public Library, the business center offers local business owners and individuals with valuable resources such as current demographic data, a reference center, audio books, career training guies, resume software, and much more. Savage Precision Fabrication Receives National Award |

Savage Precision Fabrication, Inc. of Wylie, Texas was awarded the Region IV Small Business Subcontractor of the year by the U.S. Small Business Administration on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 as part of the National Small Business Week Conference held in Washington, D.C. Savage, nominated by Raytheon for this award, also received the SBA National Subcontractor of the year for 2010. Savage manufactures precision machine and sheet metal fabrication parts for the aerospace, military, defense and high-tech industries. W.T Gardner, along with his wife JoAnn, founded the veteran and Native American owned company in 1975 after starting the business in his Garland, Texas garage. The Company now has 44 employees and occupies a 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.
